- תָּרַז(cmp. טרד), Hif. הִתְרִיז to squirt, splash; to have diarrhœa, commit a nuisance. Ḥull.38a במַתְדֶזֶת when the animal discharges with a splash, opp. בשותתת, v. שָׁתַת I. B. Kam.47b אכל חטין וה׳ ומת the animal ate wheat, and got diarrhœa and died; B. Mets.90a היתה אוכלת ומתרזת. Succ.53b; Yoma 77a ומִתְרִיזִין, v. פָּרַע; Kidd.72b ומתריזין עצמם (corr. acc.). Nif. נִתְרַז to be shocked, frightened; to be seized with a panic. Lev. R. s. 1 ונִתְרָזִין מתוךוכ׳, v. פַּנִּיקְטִין; Tanḥ. Trum. 9 ונתרזין בתוך אהליהם (not לתוך) and be panic-stricken in their camps. Ib. והן נתרזין and they were frightened.
